Abbas Milani is chair of the Department of History and Political Science at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. He has written and published extensively on Iran's encounter with modernity. His books include Tales of Two Cities: A Persian Memoir; a translation of King of the Benighted—a novella by Manuchehr Irani; and, most recently, The Persian Sphinx: Amir Abbas Hoveyda and the Riddle of the Iranian Revolution. Mr. Milani is currently working on a biography of the Shah of Iran. He is also a featured artist in Soul of a Nation, a documentary on the struggles and triumphs of Iranian artists.
