BUTIMAR'S SHAB O ROOZ KICKS OFF WITH A HUGELY SUCCESSFUL CONCERT SERIES
On September 30 through October 1, Butimar Productions hosted a concert series by kamancheh player Reza Derakshani. "The Other Side," held at the Niavaran Artistic Creations Foundationin Tehran, was co-sponsored by Khoshgovar Mashad Company, a subsidiary of the Coca-Cola Company. This concert was the first of its kind: it offered a unique fusion of rock, jazz, and traditional Iranian music, and a combination of Eastern and Western instruments and songs in both English and Farsi. Derakshani played his innovative electric kamancheh, setar, and ney, while a group of five young Iranian musicians played keyboards, guitar, bass, and drums. "The Other Side" was extremely well attended by enthusiastic audiences; many concert-goers expressed support for Butimar's upcoming Kamancheh-kesh films and clamored for recordings and videos.

Derakshani is featured in the film Shab O Rooz (Night and Day). Parts of the concert will be featured in this film and a separate video of the concert will be available for purchase.
